Tenant Law

Negligent Landlord:
Georgia legislators have done a poor job in enacting laws to protect tenants. As a result, much of the law is landlord friendly and leaves tenants with few options after dealing with negligent landlords. Although the law is mostly landlord friendly, landlords are required to provide tenants with a habitable space.

If your landlord has violated this law and allowed your rental space to become uninhabitable as a result of their negligence, you may have a claim against your landlord. Call me to discuss your potential claim and I will help you navigate the complexities of this grey area of law.
‌
Eviction:
In Georgia, landlords are required to give tenants 60-days notice to move out. Even then, this may depend on what the rental lease states. Time and time again, I have come across landlords who try to evict tenants with a week’s notice (illegal!) or try to evict tenants before the lease is up without a valid reason.

If you’re faced with an eviction notice, give me a call today to discuss your options.
